This generative, three-hour seminar helps you transform your most compelling lived experiences into powerful fiction. Through a step-by-step process of identifying powerful moments from your life and guided writing exercises, you'll learn to craft personal material into fiction that resonates with emotional truth. Using techniques borrowed from authors like Ocean Vuong and Elizabeth Strout, you'll write new scenes and discover how creative invention can lead to deeper authenticity.

Goals:

• 500-750 words of new fiction rooted in lived experience

• Tools for identifying the most story-worthy moments in your personal experiences and transforming them into compelling narratives

• Learn a systematic approach to fictionalizing real life while maintaining emotional truth

• Techniques for creating characters inspired by real people
